Good morning, Lord. I come to wait on You for a while today, thanking You for Your grace, Your love, and the blessings that are so many in my life. Yet, Abba, I seek to be settled and at peace because I am a little dazed by the chaos of the world in which I live.
Jesus make Your Word a healing one for my life and for those who seek You: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27, NIV)
I pray for grieving friends that they will find comfort and purpose in this new day. Thank you for friendship and love. Teach us to cherish the days we enjoy together so that we will not live with regret in days to come.
As a new government is formed, remind us that we are to offer up “petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— … for all those in authority that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.” (Paul, 1 Timothy 2:1-2)
Lead Your people out of blind partisanship and into good citizenship, for the glory of Christ’s Name that they bear, Yes, Lord, I ask Your mercy for our nation, Your wisdom for those newly entrusted with authority. Teach them to use their position well, humbly, and selflessly.
Lead on, Oh King Eternal, till sin’s fierce war shall cease,
and holiness shall whisper the sweet amen of peace.
For not with swords’ loud clashing or roll of stirring drums,
but with deeds of love and mercy – the heavenly kingdom comes.
Help me to love You well this day,
To bear the Name of my Savior worthily.
Amen.
