Abba – my soul is drained this morning by news of yet more violence and heartbreak. Wars drag on. Politicians boast of peace but bring more suffering to this world. Peace is elusive, chased away by hatred and division. O Lord, how long before You act to defeat the Evil one?
David’s cry is mine on this day – “How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul, with sorrow in my heart every day? How long will my enemy have the upper hand? Turn and answer me, O Lord my God! Restore the light to my eyes, or I will die.” (Psalm 13:2-3, NLT)
I pray for those who grieve the senseless death of their children and friends in Bend, Oregon. May they know much love and support. Spirit of God be close to them with a supernatural peace.
The words of Luther’s prayer are surely mine today.
“O Lord, help me. Strengthen my faith and trust in you.
In you I have sealed the treasure of all I have.
I am poor; you are rich and came to be merciful to the poor.
I am a sinner; you are upright.
With me there is an abundance of sin;
in you is the fullness of righteousness.”
Lead me to live in Your Light.
Help me to love as You love.
Let my words be true and encouraging.
May Your Name be honored in my life this day.
In the Holy Name of Jesus, I pray.
Amen
