Abba, as a new week begins, I pray for a heart settled on You, ready to receive the gifts You provide with gratitude. The Scripture tells me that “contentment is great wealth!”  Help my heart to find its rest in You, to know genuine serenity.

The noisy world in which I live offers to bring happiness in owning more things, in enjoying more pleasures, in achieving greater status … and I am tempted to chase after them. Grant me the wisdom to see beyond the glitter, to look to the real wealth that comes from loving You and others well.

Yes, Lord, help me to make the life of the Spirit my priority, I pray.

Let me live the promise “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”  (Isaiah 30:21) Guided by Your Spirit I will be led to truth and life of real joy.

Grant me the patience and faith to ‘wait on the Lord.’
