Abba, I stand at the edge of a new day, and I know my need for the Spirit’s guidance and wisdom so that I will live the best life no matter what comes my way. I pray the promise from Isaiah’s words – “whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”

In a time of noise, conflict, and confusion I ask for peace and clarity in my mind. I pray that You will help me to keep focused on the goodness of Your grace so that I will live with genuine gratitude and real joy.

As I talk with others teach me to be like Jesus – gentle, kind, and patient – willing to share their pain and their joy, ready to offer to lift them up and to celebrate their victories.

For our leaders I pray that Your Light will lead them. Teach them to seek peace, to care for the least, to remember the poor, and to protect those without voice or power. Defeat the demons of war and death. Convict of pride and self-seeking, helping those who hold office to find their true satisfaction in service.

Jesus, let Your light shine through me in all I do so that You will be honored and so that others will come to desire to know You.
