Abba, I awaken this day with the noise of life clamoring in my thoughts, so I ask You to speak over me the words that calmed the winds of Galilee– “peace, be still!” Grace me with faith to let go of worries and to take renewed hope in Your ways and will.
Thank you for the reminder in the skies last night of Your beautiful Creation, the crescent moon shining over the black woods and the planet Venus shining brightly next to it. With David, I worship You. “O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth! … When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers— the moon and the stars you set in place—what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?” (Psalm 8)
Forgive me for making myself a god, trying to control the flow of events around. Lead me, anew, to child-like trust for this day and my tomorrows. In the surrender, may I find peace and become an oasis of renewal for others who are living in a spiritual desert. Truly, Jesus, I pray to drink of the Spirit, the Living Water, and to become a source of life. You said “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” (John 7) Amen, Lord!
“O Master, let me walk with thee
In lowly paths of service free;
Tell me thy secret; help me bear
The strain of toil, the fret of care.” (Public Domain, 1879)
In the holy Name of Jesus, Amen.
