Abba, You are our hope and our source of life—the One who renews us day by day.
You “never change or cast a shifting shadow. You chose to give us new birth through Your living Word, and out of all creation You have made us Your treasured possession.” Keep my heart and mind secure in that promise, I pray.
Lord, I struggle to remain at peace as I hear the drums of war beating across the world. I do not know what the future holds, and I fear for those who will suffer loss, death, and destruction. Turn the hearts and minds of the proud and powerful. Give them compassion and wisdom to use their influence for good and not for harm.
In the words of St. Francis, I pray that You would “make me an instrument of Your peace:
that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.”
Jesus, claim my heart and fill me with the life of Your Spirit, that I may live in “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control.”
As I am loved, teach me to love.
As I am forgiven, teach me to forgive.
As I have received grace I did not deserve, help me to extend grace to others.
All this I ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.
